Coming to Practrice

Until you decide you are serious about continuing with kendo, there is no need to purchase any of the clothing and equipment beyond a shinai, which can be acquired from a local martial arts supply store (Kim's in Ann Arbor) or online (see the links page). A shinai and a loose pair ofsweats is all you need
to get started; if you decide to stick with it you will need to purchase your own equipment and join the All United States Kendo Federation.
