Eastern Michigan University Kendo

There will be no practice on Tuesday May 1st due to semester break. Practince resumes again on May 8th.

This tournament is geared towards just getting the dojo in Michigan together to give the newer kendoka in bogu a chance to participate in shiai in a safe and friendly environment. The only charge is a $20 Banquet fee for those who want to party afterward. The location is on the campus of Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti.

Cleveland Kendo Association has announced the upcoming 19th Annual Cleveland Kendo Tournament / Greater Northeastern United States Kendo Federation Championships to be held at the Adelbert Gymnasium of the Case Western Reserve University on Saturday, April 14, 2007. More info will be available soon at the MWKF website.

Detroit kendo tournament has been announced. It will be held on Feb. 17 and 18, 2007. Location TBA.

The MWKF has annouced its annual fall tournament will be held in Chicago on October 28 - 29th. More info to come as it becomes avavilable.

MSU will be hosting the first Michigan Kendo Summer day camp July 16, 2006 in the second floor gym of the MSU IM Circle building. Building opens 9:30am, assembly for the first practice is scheduled for 10:00am. Lunch break around noon with lunch provided at the Owen Hall Cafeteria as part of the ($15) camp participation fee. Camp head instructor will be Y. Tagawa sensei 8-dan kiyoshi assisted by Michigan kenshi at the 5-dan and above level. We anticipate that camp will finish about 4:30pm .. kendo standard time.. which means plus or minus 45 minutes.

We would like to thank everyone who came out to the Annual Michigan Family Tournament. The competition was excellent and the whole was a good time. We look forward to the next one!

This practice will be held in the IM Sports Circle on the campus of MSU, upstairs gym.

Time 12:30pm - 2:30pm

Head instructor: Y. Tagawa sensei Detroit Kendo dojo 8-dan kyoshi.

Practice format and topics to be selected by Tagawa sensei. Following the practice
we will have arranged a lunch/dinner. Please expect a follow up email with more
information about that, and a rough program for the practice.

Thanks to Tagawa Sense and the Detroit Kendo Dojo for putting together another great tournament. The club would like to congratulate our own Perry DeBruhl for placing 3rd in the Mudansha Division (adult).
